From June 23 to 27, 2025, the Institute of Horticulture (InHort) took part in the prestigious International Fire Blight Conference held in Kennewick, Washington (USA). The event gathered leading researchers, agronomists, and technology developers to discuss the latest advances in fire blight biology and management, with a strong focus on disease control, plant breeding, and precision technologies.
During the session on Disease Management and Technology, InHort presented the HortiQD project, highlighting its innovative approach to reducing pesticide use in European orchards through advanced spectral sensing and smart monitoring systems. The presentation sparked interest among international participants, especially in light of growing global efforts to make fruit production more sustainable and data-driven.
The conference also included field visits to Washington apple orchards, offering a valuable opportunity to exchange insights on practical disease control strategies and explore synergies between HortiQD and North American research initiatives.
This participation reinforces HortiQD’s commitment to international collaboration and showcases its potential to contribute to global solutions for safer, more sustainable horticulture.
