In June, Fondazione Agrion welcomed a new group of American students for an inspiring day dedicated to agricultural innovation and sustainability.

After an introduction to the Foundation’s facilities, the students had the opportunity to explore several cutting‑edge solutions currently being tested in the field:

  • an agrivoltaic system on blueberry crops,

  • anti‑insect nets designed to protect orchards,

  • smart irrigation sensors for precise water management,

  • and a varietal orchard used for evaluating different fruit cultivars.

The visit concluded with a presentation of ongoing projects in which Agrion is a partner. Among them, the HortiQD project drew particular attention, as it aims to reduce pesticide use in European orchards through advanced sensing and monitoring technologies.

This initiative highlights how HortiQD is engaging with stakeholders and future professionals, showcasing practical solutions that combine sustainability, innovation, and improved crop management.
